Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated: August 26, 2026
Scope of this policy
This policy explains how Examp, LLC ("Examp," "we," or "us") handles information through the PE Prep Pro mobile application, the pepreppro.com website, and the PE Prep Pro Engineering plugin and its MCP tools (collectively, the "Services"). PE Prep Pro is an independent educational tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by a government entity, NCEES, or an official educational institution.
Summary
- The mobile app does not require an account. Study progress and answers remain on the device and are not sent to Examp.
- Four plugin tools process practice preferences, answers, and educational results only long enough to answer the request; Examp does not save those requests or results in its application database.
- The content-reporting tool saves the item ID, report category, report note, an issue ID, and timestamps so our editorial team can investigate the report.
- Website analytics run only after the visitor selects "Confirm" on the cookie notice.
- We do not sell personal information or use plugin data for advertising or to train AI models.
PE Prep Pro Engineering plugin: tool inputs, outputs, and storage
When ChatGPT invokes a tool, OpenAI sends the listed tool arguments to our MCP server. Our server returns the listed output to OpenAI so it can be shown in the conversation. The plugin does not require a PE Prep Pro account and does not receive a ChatGPT account password, payment information, or precise location.
list_disciplines
Input: none. Output: available civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines; reviewed topics; item counts; concept IDs; and exam-spec versions. Examp storage: none.
create_practice_set
Input: discipline and, if selected, topic, difficulty, and a question count from one to five. Output: question text, A-D answer choices, question metadata, and a signed attempt token containing the selected item IDs, content revisions, and a 30-minute expiration time. The token is used only to grade that attempt and does not identify the user. Examp storage: none; the token expires after 30 minutes.
grade_practice_set
Input: the signed attempt token and each item ID with the selected A-D answer. Output: score, correctness by item, selected and correct options, reviewed explanations, source references, exam-spec version, reviewer, review date, and content revision. Examp storage: none.
get_concept_brief
Input: a concept ID. Output: discipline, topic, educational summary, reference starting points, review date, reviewer, and content revisions. Examp storage: none.
report_content_issue
Input: item ID, issue category (factual, calculation, citation, ambiguity, typo, or other), and a note of up to 1,000 characters. Output: confirmation, the item ID, and an issue ID. Examp storage: the item ID, category, note, issue ID, and created/updated timestamps. We also store a daily aggregate count for this tool containing only the tool name, date, and number of calls. Do not put personal, confidential, client, project, export-controlled, health, financial, or credential information in the note.
Tool inputs and outputs may remain in the user's ChatGPT conversation. OpenAI controls that copy under the user's ChatGPT plan, workspace settings, and OpenAI's applicable privacy terms. Deleting data held by Examp does not delete a ChatGPT conversation, and deleting a ChatGPT conversation does not automatically delete a content issue report held by Examp.
Other information we process
Mobile app data. Practice progress, selected answers, settings, and related study data are stored locally on the user's device. Examp does not receive this information. Device or cloud backups are controlled by the user and the operating-system provider.
Support messages. If a user emails us, we receive the email address, message, attachments, and any information the user chooses to provide. We use it to answer the request, address a content or technical problem, and keep a support record.
Website analytics and consent. Before consent, the website stores only the visitor's analytics choice in browser local storage. If the visitor confirms, Google Analytics may receive cookie or device identifiers, browser/device details, IP-derived approximate location, referring pages, and page or interaction events. We use this information to understand site performance and improve the website. Selecting "Opt out" prevents Google Analytics from loading through our consent gate.
Network and security data. Like most internet services, our hosting provider necessarily processes IP address, request time, HTTP method and path, browser or client details, response status, and diagnostic/security events to deliver the website and MCP endpoint, prevent abuse, and investigate errors. We do not intentionally place plugin prompts, answers, attempt tokens, or tool outputs in our application logs.
Why we use information
- Provide the requested practice, grading, and concept tools.
- Authenticate a short-lived practice attempt and prevent answers from being revealed before grading.
- Review, correct, and document reported educational-content issues.
- Respond to support and privacy requests.
- Operate, secure, debug, and measure the Services, including consent-based website analytics.
- Comply with law and protect users, Examp, and others.
We do not use plugin inputs or outputs to build advertising profiles, sell personal information, or train AI models.
Who receives information
- OpenAI. OpenAI sends tool inputs to the plugin and receives tool outputs for the ChatGPT conversation. OpenAI is an independent recipient with its own terms and privacy policy.
- Examp personnel and contractors. Authorized people may access content issue reports, support messages, and operational data only as needed for editorial review, support, security, and service operation.
- Infrastructure providers. Vercel hosts the website and MCP endpoint, and our managed PostgreSQL provider stores content issue reports and aggregate counts. These providers process data on our behalf to deliver and secure the Services.
- Google. Google Analytics receives website analytics data only after the visitor consents.
- Legal or safety recipients. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our terms, respond to lawful process, or protect rights, safety, and security.
- Business transaction recipients. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality and this policy.
We do not sell or rent personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Retention
- Practice filters, answers, concept requests, and the corresponding tool results are not saved in Examp's application database. They are processed for the request and discarded after the response. Signed attempt tokens expire after 30 minutes.
- Content issue reports are retained for up to 24 months after receipt, then deleted or de-identified, unless a longer period is needed for an active dispute, security investigation, or legal obligation.
- Daily tool-usage counts contain no user identifier or report content and may be retained indefinitely as aggregate operational statistics.
- Support emails are ordinarily retained for up to 24 months after the last communication, unless needed longer for an unresolved request or legal obligation.
- Our accessible application and security logs are retained for no more than 30 days, except when an event must be preserved for an active security investigation or legal obligation. Provider backup and security records may remain for the provider's limited backup or compliance cycle.
- Google Analytics event-level data is retained for up to 14 months; aggregate reports may remain longer without directly identifying a visitor.
- Mobile app data remains on the device until the user clears it or uninstalls the app, subject to device backups. ChatGPT conversation copies follow OpenAI's and the user's workspace retention settings.
User choices and controls
- Users may decline website analytics through the cookie notice. A visitor can change the choice by clearing the
examp_cookie_consentlocal-storage entry and revisiting the site; browser settings can also clear Google Analytics cookies. - Users can avoid saved plugin data by not invoking report_content_issue and by using the support page instead. Do not include personal or confidential information in a report note.
- Users may disconnect the plugin and may delete the relevant ChatGPT conversation using ChatGPT controls. Those actions control OpenAI-held copies, not a content issue already submitted to Examp.
- Users may uninstall the mobile app or clear its storage to remove locally stored study data, subject to device backups.
- Users may ask to access, correct, or delete a content issue report or support record by emailing dylan@examp.com. Include the issue ID or item ID when available. We may need to verify the request and may retain information when required by law. Because the other plugin tools are not saved by Examp, we cannot retrieve or delete an answer history that we do not hold.
Security and international processing
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted network transport and restricted access. No system can guarantee absolute security. Examp and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate, which may have different data-protection laws.
Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If a parent or guardian believes a child submitted personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Services or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy here and update the date at the top. Material changes will apply prospectively unless otherwise required by law.
